John Plummer was born in south London in 1946. His education and aspirations were greatly influenced by two years at Atlantic College, an international Sixth Form in South Wales. He has a history degree from St John's College Oxford. John taught in comprehensive schools in Bristol and Leeds, then worked as an adviser in two large Local education Authorities. His enthusiasm for the great outdoors and for understanding the landscapes of our islands is longstanding. He remains an impassioned advocate for outdoor/residential opportunities for young people and for an inspirational school curriculum. He chairs a climate change group in his community, near Chester.
